Emergency Maintenance AUKZ Cloud Router 1 and 2 reboot. Planned Maintenance

Description

The routers in Kalamazoo are experiencing a software issue affecting IPSEC tunnels from customer cloud environments. The routers will be rebooted and upgraded one at a time to allow services to fail over as gracefully as possible. Due to the software issue experienced it is possible that services do not fail over gracefully and might be impacted while each router is rebooting.

INVESTIGATING

Aunalytics is investigating what appears to be a partial interruption of Google DNS Services impacting Michigan, Indianna and Ohio. The issue appears to be intermittent by public IP address even within the same routing block. Intermittently customers may not be able to reach 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 depending on their public IP. We are still evaluating but this appears to be a regional Google DNS issue based upon online sources. Many devices such as firewalls use the Google DNS addresses to judge the status of circuits or devices so fail over of devices or circuits may result.

MONITORING

The Aunalytics Cloud Network team has confirmed this is not an Internet routing issue. Based on current testing, the impact appears limited to ICMP (ping) traffic to Google DNS IPs. DNS resolution remains fully functional; all DNS queries tested are returning correctly, even when ping responses from Google DNS IPs are not received. Customers using Google DNS IPs (8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4) for route tracking, circuit monitoring, or device health checks should temporarily switch to an alternative well-known Internet IP for those tests.

Description

The Aunalytics Cloud Infrastructure Team will be performing maintenance on the South Bend Backup environment, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, between 10am & 2pm. The maintenance will consist of backend software updates to improve security and fix existing bugs. Backup operation will be impacted during this time.
